Parson Drove – Plot 3

DHA were approached by a unique local property developer, to design a pair of large detached family homes on the site of former agricultural use within the village of Parson Drove, in North Cambridgeshire. Located a short distance from the conservation area. The brief included a focus on quality, space and place.

The houses were designed as a pair, but with each enjoying distinctive features. Inclusive of high levels of insulation, solar panels and passive solar gain, the design maximises its potential to utilise the natural environment and free energy.

Specific to plot 3 is a grand frontage that is positioned parallel with the main road, creating a majestic feeling when viewed from the street scene. This traditional approach has been blended with a contemporary internal layout, which features generous open plan living spaces with seamless connection to the gardens and views beyond.

The dwelling is entered through a projecting porch covered doorway, with a double height space containing the feature stairwell, a cut back first floor landing adds to the sense of this grand entrance flooding the ground floor with natural light. Living accommodation continues with a sizable second reception space purposefully separated for a quiet, warm feeling, inclusive of a brick built feature fireplace. At first floor there are four bedrooms, positioned to take in the surrounding views and natural light, as well as a home office for modern day working from home.

The dwellings are currently under construction and are expected to be complete by 2024. Be sure to keep an eye on our social media pages for updates throughout the build.
