Parson Drove – Plot 2
DHA were approached by a unique local property developer, to design a pair of large detached family homes on the site of former agricultural use within the village of Parson Drove, in North Cambridgeshire. Located a short distance from the conservation area. The brief included a focus on quality, space and place.
The houses were designed as a pair, but with each enjoying distinctive features. Inclusive of high levels of insulation, solar panels and passive solar gain, the design maximises its potential to harvest the natural environment and free energy.
Specific to plot 2 is a unique layout that positions the large double garage and internal working rooms to the north, maximizing the usable south-facing area, purposefully positioning the main generous open plan living spaces to track the sun throughout the day.
The dwelling is entered through a recessed porch covered doorway, with a double height space containing the feature stairwell, which flows effortlessly into the gardens through large openable glazing. Living accommodation continues with a sizable second reception space featuring a large double sided brick built fireplace, and high levels of natural light throughout. At first floor there are four bedrooms, positioned around a galleried landing, as well as a large home office, all with views out over the Cambridgeshire countryside.
The dwellings are currently under construction and are expected to be complete by 2024. Be sure to keep an eye on our social media pages for updates throughout the build.
