Elm Road

Located in a charming small Fenland town, this bespoke single-storey family dwelling has been purposefully designed to make the most of a tight site. Constrained by the existing neighbouring dwellings, surrounding trees and access, this brief posed a real challenge that called for creative thinking and considerate solutions.

Despite the tight site, the result is a well-proportioned dwelling that blends seamlessly with its surroundings, offering high-quality internal spaces for modern living, and all of the external amenities a modern family could need. This has been achieved through the maximising of internal space, inter-connections and overall efficiency.

This traditional design is perfectly suited to the small town setting, creating a sense of harmony and continuity with the surrounding buildings. Calling upon the local architectural vernacular, the external treatment is reflective of the local materials, whilst incorporating the traditional forms found in such a setting – A high quality facing brick and feature accent cladding have been blended to create a modern twist.

Internally, the dwelling offers a range of high-quality open plan spaces that are both functional and flooded in natural light, thanks to large doors, windows and rooflights that offer views of the surrounding landscape. Additional value has been added with the inclusion of a separate snug/third bedroom, utility space and an en-suite. The bedrooms are comfortable, with each designed to provide privacy from the main open plan areas, with ease of separation when entertaining.
